No classes in Metro Manila on Monday

MANILA -- Education officials on Saturday announced the cancellation of classes in all levels in Metro Manila on Monday, July 27 in anticipation of President Arroyo’s State of the Nation Address and Iglesia Ni Cristo’s grand anniversary. Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Chairman Emmanuel Angeles told radio dzMM they had decided to cancel classes on Monday due to the traffic that will be caused by the 95th celebration of the Iglesia ni Cristo. “Inaasahan natin ang mga taga Iglesia ni Cristo from provinces na pumunta sa Manila for their anniversary, so malamang na magkaroon ng problema sa trapiko,” Angeles said in an interview over dzMM. Angeles said the cancellation is only for schools in Metro Manila. Meanwhile, Teresita Domalanta, National Capital Region chief of the Department of Education also announced the suspension of classes in the elementary and secondary levels. “Dahil po sa dalawang malaking okasyon sa darating na Lunes, nagpasya kaming isuspindi muna ang klase,” she said. President Arroyo is scheduled to deliver her 9th and last State of the Nation Address at 4 p.m. Activists have also organized various anti-SONA protests which will culminate on Monday. Earlier, the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) and San Sebastian College-Recoletos Manila announced the suspension of their classes. According to a media advisory sent by the PUP Public Affairs Office, the suspension of classes applies to all its campuses and branches all over the country. “PUP President Dante Guevarra wants the politically-oriented and socially aware PUP students to have the once in a lifetime opportunity to listen to the great speech of the President of the Philippines,” the advisory stated. For its part, San Sebastian said demonstrators are expected to converge near their front gate at Legarda corner C.M. Recto. "This convergence may possibly bring an unfavorable scenario that may endanger the students, teachers and employees of SSC-R Manila," the school said.

Is there a person whom you look up to? Do you know someone who you would want to be like when you grow up? This person whose footsteps you would like to follow is considered your role model.

Everyone has his or her role model. A role Model can be anybody - a famous personality, an excellent leader, a rich businessman, your parents or your older siblings.

A child like you or me can be a role model, too. As a model, all you have to do is set a good examples for others. People tend to imitate that they see others doing. By setting good examples, you give them the chance to emulate something than can help them or the people around you.

So how can you set good examples for others? What things can you do to be a good role model?

My personal Answer:

1. i can set good example to others like i will study hard, i go to school everyday, make my assignments, without being told with my tita, and respect other people.
2. i will follow instructions, both school and at home,
3. i will not shout or yell to my parents nor to my classmates.

christmas vacation is over and its backt to school time... grrrrr.. i didnt say that i dont want to go to school huh, its just that i like the feeling not to wake up early, no assignments to make, my tita will not nag at me because id stay very long in the bathroom and il be late in school.. well i understand her actually...

on the other side, i want to go to school because i want to see again my classmates, bestfriends, and teachers,, (naks) HAHAHA.... and mose especially my allowance... whewwwww!!!

did you know that it was a Filipino scientist who made the first videophone? Dr. Gregorio Y. Zara invented the two-way television telephone or videophone in 1955. Dr. ZAra also invented an airplane engine that ran on alcohol instead of fuel. He successfully tested and flew his alcohol-fuelled airplane engine at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in September 1954.

Dr. Zara invented more: new designs for solar water heater, sun stove, solar batttery, and a microscope with adjustable stage. He also helped in designing a robot called Marex X.

For his important contributions to science, Dr. Zara was awarded in 1966 the Presidential Gold Medal and Diploma of Honor for Science and REsearch, and the Cultural Heritage AWards for Science Education and Aero Engineering.
